If you need to deactivate an SMS keyword, or wish to reuse an old keyword for a new campaign with a new purpose, you can find help in this support article.
Deactivate an SMS keyword
SMS keywords are billed monthly. Therefore, if you wish to unsubscribe from an SMS keyword, you must deactivate it before the end of the month. It will appear as deactivated (and still function) on your OnlineFundraising account for the remainder of the month, after which it will be released so other organisations can reserve it.
If there are active subscriptions linked to the keyword, you cannot deactivate it. You must first close all active agreements before you can deactivate the keyword.
You deactivate a keyword by finding it under SMS > Keywords, clicking on it, and then pressing Deactivate Keyword.
The list of keywords is by default filtered to show only active keywords. If you remove the filter, you can see the keyword in the list:
If you wish to reactivate the keyword, it can be done before the end of the month. Simply click on it and reactivate it by clicking Activate.
Note: After the end of the month, a deactivated keyword will be released, allowing anyone to freely reserve it.
Change the campaign for a keyword that has already been used (payment or message)
Regardless of what you wish to change, our recommendation is to deactivate the old campaign and create a new one. This way, you retain the history of the keyword, but also ensure that all the right elements are considered when creating the new campaign.
Next, make sure the keyword can no longer be found in any old campaign material. To comply with the
you must ensure that no users/donors can misunderstand the purpose of the keyword. For example, if someone previously donated 50 kroner using keyword XX, that information must not appear anywhere if the keyword is to be used for a different purpose, such as 100 kroner in regular support.
Each campaign requires individual consideration, so go through it thoroughly, especially paying attention to physical materials and, for example, banners on social media and similar platforms. If you're unsure, reach out to support, and we'll review it together.
You deactivate the old campaign by opening the campaign and clicking Inactivate:
Afterwards, you can create a new campaign as usual. Remember to attach all relevant keywords to the new campaign.
Change the campaign for a keyword that has been used for recurring agreements (subscriptions)
If you want to change the campaign for a keyword that has previously been used for a recurring agreement (subscription), it requires a bit more. As mentioned above, you need to ensure that the keyword is no longer in use anywhere. This applies to campaign material, but also in relation to previous donors. There must be no active agreements linked to the keyword – if there are, you cannot change it. Therefore, you must first ensure that all previous agreements are stopped/inactive.
Note: You must not change the keyword for active SMS subscriptions.
To comply with the framework agreement, it must always be possible to cancel an SMS subscription by sending KEYWORD + STOP. If you change the campaign for the original keyword, you will not be able to meet this requirement. Therefore, all active agreements must be terminated before you change the campaign.
You can export all data for an SMS campaign under Export:
Change the amount for a keyword that has previously been used.
If you wish to change the amount for a keyword that has previously been used, the same guidelines apply as mentioned above:
-
You must ensure that there are no active agreements linked to the keyword.
-
You must ensure that the campaign is no longer visible anywhere, so no users can donate under false pretences.
Our recommendation is to deactivate the old campaign and create a new one. Open the old campaign and click Inactivate. Afterwards, you can create an SMS campaign with the relevant keyword and new amount.
