From the Custom fields menu, you can create and customise tailored fields. You’ll find Custom fields under the Data sets menu:
How to create a new custom field
Click Create new in the top-right corner.
The following window will then appear:
Here, you can add the following parameters. Only Key is required.
| Key | Reference - merge tag. The field name as it appears in the user interface and API. |
| Label | The display name shown to the donor. |
| Values | Selectable options, for example: “Personal, Senior, Family”. |
| Description | A description of how the field is used, e.g. name in CRM |
If you want to add predefined values, enter the first one and click Add. You can then create separate values that define the options available to the donor. These could be membership types, interests, newsletter preferences, etc.
Finally, click Create to create the new field.
How to edit an existing field
The overview under Data sets > Custom fields shows all fields currently in use. In this example, I have two fields that both refer to membership, but are named differently.
If I want to standardise this so Medlemskaber becomes Medlemskab everywhere, I simply click Medlemskaber (the field that needs updating). This opens a new window where I can view and edit the field settings.
Using the Go to source link, you can see an example of a data set that uses this field.
Looking at this data set, I can see that the Medlemskaber field is used on form 4.
I can click the link to go directly to the form and adjust how future submissions are filled in. This way, I can ensure consistent data going forward.
