SMS Inbound

How to reserve keywords and subkeywords

Senest redigeret:

If you are reserving your first keyword, we recommend first checking the prices for subscriptions and keyword reservations.

If you plan to receive donations, you must first make sure you have the correct SMS fundraising permit.

Note: Your subscription will start automatically with your first reservation. You will be charged monthly until you deactivate your keyword, as the keyword is locked to your organisation.

There is no maximum limit on the number of keywords you can reserve. If you need a large number, you may want to consider purchasing your own shortcode (a four-digit number). In that case, you only pay for the shortcode and not per keyword. Contact support if you would like to know more about this.

1. Go to SMS Inbound

Log in to OnlineFundraising and find SMS Inbound in the main menu on the left-hand side. Click there and select Keywords. Then click Reserve new keyword in the top right-hand corner.

2. Check availability

To reserve a keyword, it must not already be reserved by someone else on the shortcode you wish to use.
Start by checking whether your desired keyword is available. There is no charge to search for a keyword – not even when you click Check.

On the left-hand side, you can choose which shortcode you wish to use. The shortcode is the phone number to which the keyword will be sent.

Note: If you select two shortcodes for the same keyword, it will still count as two keywords, and you will therefore be charged for two keywords.

If you have any questions, you are always welcome to contact us at support@onlinefundraising.dk.

Keyword is available

If the keyword is available, it will be displayed as Available, and you can now reserve it by clicking Reserve
When you reserve the keyword, it is locked to your organisation on the selected shortcode, and you will be invoiced from that month until and including the month in which you deactivate it.

Once the keyword is reserved and active, you can link it to your campaign. If you wish to use the keyword for another campaign, you can change it here.
You will also have the option to reserve a subkeyword.

Keyword is not available

If the keyword is already in use by another organisation, it will be displayed as Not available.

3. Set up your keyword

Once you have reserved your keyword, the following options will appear:

  1. Campaign – The campaign defines what happens when a donor/member sends an SMS to your organisation (donation, start payment agreement, send reply message). If you have already created a campaign, you can select it from the drop-down menu here, linking the campaign to the keyword. If you have not yet created a campaign, you can read how to do so here.

  2. Error message – If there is no active campaign for the keyword, you can send an alternative message back. For example:
“Thank you for your message. Learn more about our work at xxx. Best regards, Organisation”

  3. Test the message – You can enter your phone number and receive an SMS to test the message.

  4. Webhook endpoint – If you want to receive webhooks for the keyword, enter the URL here.

Reserving subkeywords

As you already have your keyword, all subkeywords will be available (unless you have already reserved them). You will find the subkeyword reservation option directly under keyword reservations.

  1. Select your keyword – On the left-hand side, select the keyword you want to create a subkeyword for. In the example above, we have chosen “fbtest”.

  2. Enter your subkeyword – Once you have selected your keyword, you can search for the subkeyword you need. As with keyword reservations, you can see whether it is available or not.

You can always deactivate a keyword – it will remain visible in the list until the end of the month.
